Tracking in the Schools

International Cultural Comparisons between Schools

Teachers must educate whoever walks through the door of the classroom.   Students may come from advantaged or disadvantaged backgrounds with respect to academics.  That is, disadvantaged students may have been restricted in fulfilling their potential due to being "tracked" within lower levels of classroom teaching and thus have more limited sets of academic skills.  Moreover, in a more globalized world, it is ever more possible, particularly within higher education, that students will come to the classroom from different countries where there educational experiences and skills sets attained may differ greatly from the host culture.
